COURSE SUMMARY

This highly acclaimed course provides a comprehensive review of pediatric dentistry. It may be helpful to American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) members in their preparation for the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry (ABPD) examinations.

The Comprehensive Review course will provide you with an expansive, contemporary and in-depth summary of pediatric dentistry. Topics to be discussed include growth and development, oral pathology, providing care to special needs patients, trauma, behavior management and pulp therapy.

Expert clinicians presenting this course utilize a lecture format to review the subjects included in the board examinations. A representative of the ABPD will discuss the board examination process. Participation in this course does not guarantee successful completion of board exams.

The curriculum is designed also to serve as a comprehensive and in-depth review of pediatric dentistry to those attendees who may either be board certified or not planning on taking the examination.

Dr. Adair earned his dental degree from the University of North Carolina and his master’s degree and certificate in pediatric dentistry from The University of Iowa. Dr. Adair is a diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and consultant to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the Air Force.

Dr. Killian earned her dental degree from The University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine and her certificate in pediatric dentistry from St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia. Dr. Killian is a diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and has served as a trustee for the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. She has served as a Director and President of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and is a currently a consultant to the Commission on Dental Accreditation.

Dr. Sonis received his D.M.D. from Tufts University, pediatric dentistry specialty training at Harvard/Children’s Hospital, Boston and orthodontic training at Boston University. He is board certified in pediatric dentistry, oral medicine, and orthodontics. He currently serves on the editorial board of Pediatric Dentistry and is a reviewer for the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, the European Journal of Orthodontics, and the European Journal of Pediatric Dentistry. Dr. Sonis is a consultant in orthodontics at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and consultant in pediatric oncology at Dana Farber Cancer Institute. He also maintains a private practice in pediatric dentistry and orthodontics in
Newton, Massachusetts.
