Course Description

Course Director, Dr. John Koutras, worked with the Oakstone Institute to create an in-depth review which is designed to provide psychiatrists and psychiatrists-intraining with current, relevant, and condensed information needed to pass certification, and maintenance of certification (recertification) exams. This course is also valuable if you are simply looking for a great way to keep up with key developments in psychiatry. A concise format means it will focus only on what is necessary to pass the exam and stay current. Faculty selected for their outstanding teaching methods and expertise in target ‘must-know’ areas will deliver more than 35 leading edge presentations.

As a full-time academic psychiatrist, Dr. Koutras has played a significant role in helping residents pass the board exam, with pass rates that easily exceed the average reported by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. As the course director, he will pass his expertise in this critical area to you, the attendee. Dr. Koutras and the faculty will offer useful exam-taking techniques, as well as emphasize what to study (and what not to study), how to study, how to maximize time, and how to gain confidence. You will also receive an intense review of the requisite neurology topics, an area in which many psychiatrists are less current. Unlike other courses, Dr. Koutras and his team will use a digital audience response system that enables the participants to respond to questions most likely to appear on an actual exam, receive immediate feedback, and gauge their level of knowledge against others.
